Ep. 98: Money In The Bank Preview, Hart/Magee Thoughts

May 16th, 2019

WWE Money In The Bank 2019 is this Sunday and we're here to preview the show for you, getting you up to speed on everything you need to know heading into the event, as well as predictions from us on what will happen in each and every single match.

But before we get to that, it's been another newsworthy week. We talk about AEW's now finalized deal with TNT and whether or not the Double Or Nothing PPV price is too high.

Just before going on the air, we received word of the untimely death of former WWE Diva Ashley Massaro, so we talk about her contributions to the wrestling world and tragic death. Earlier in the day, Ric Flair was hospitalized for a scheduled procedure, which is another topic of discussion.

Lastly, we break down the airing of the holy grail of (previously) unseen wrestling matches: the 1986 Bret Hart vs. Tom Magee match. We have thoughts on how WWE presented the match, the documentary that aired, and the match itself. Plus, some deep thoughts on why this once again proves Bret is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time (and some things in particular that he did much better than Shawn Michaels).

Ep. 97: AEW TV Confirmed, Time To End The WWE Brand Split?

May 9th, 2019

A ton to talk about this week, most notably the fact that All Elite Wrestling's television home looks to be all but finalized. We break down what the network means for AEW and how nostalgia could be worked into their promotional packaging to bring back wrestling's lapsed fans.

Lars Sullivan has been making headlines this week and not for a good reason. We've got some heated thoughts on his horrible past comments and it should mean for his WWE career.

WWE tried to spice things up this week with the new wild card rule. However, despite a small bump to ratings, it's pretty evident that there are deeper issues that need fixing. We debate if it's time to put the latest brand split behind us.

Lastly, we break down this week's edition of Dark Side of the Ring - a tremendous documentary on the life and death of Gino Hernandez.

Ep. 96: Ambrose Is Moxley, Moxley Is Ambrose

May 2nd, 2019

Dean Ambrose is at the forefront of the wrestling industry as he has made his official exit from WWE and re-emerged (via Twitter) with a much talked about video where he has regained the persona of Jon Moxley. We're here to talk about what this all means, our impressions of the video (and its clues), and where we might see "The Artist Formerly Known As Dean Ambrose" next.

Plus, we talk this week's edition of Dark Side Of The Ring documentary on VICELAND that focused on the Von Erich family. We're here with an honest review of what we saw.

All of this, as well as talk about WWE being in a lull after WrestleMania and how that compares to past years, WWE booking quirks, Lio Rush drama, and a whole lot more.

Ep. 95: WWE Roster Intrigue, AEW Inches Closer, Money In The Bank Direction

April 26th, 2019

WWE continues to make roster moves, whether it's moving people brands or refusing to let people out of their contracts, and we are here to talk about all of it.

Plus, Tony Khan spoke to a former Top Rope Nation guest this week and we break down what the owner of All Elite Wrestling had to say about his company's launch as Double Or Nothing inches closer and closer.

Lastly, we're still a few weeks away from WWE Money In The Bank, but we have some (way too early) thoughts on the direction of the show.

Ep. 94: AEW TV, Debunking Montreal Truthers, Superstar Shakeup

April 18th, 2019

We've got a lot to cover this week. In the moments prior to us recording, all kinds of conflicting information started circulating concerning All Elite Wrestling's future on television. We break down all the latest on this for you.

Then, we switch gears and talk about this week's "Dark Side of the Ring" VICELAND documentary on the 1997 Survivor Series and Montreal Screwjob. We explain where the documentary fell short (big time), what Bruce Prichard got wrong, and prove to you once and for all why Montreal "truthers" are completely nuts.

Lastly, we look at this week's WWE Superstar Shakeup and discuss the winners and losers of WWE's big roster changes.

There's a lot on the table to discuss this week with all the fallout from WWE WrestleMania 35. Ryan, Justin, and Kyle break down the RAW and SmackDown after Mania, as well as revisit the WrestleMania 35 finish after a few days of thought.

Plus, we're talking WWE's bait and switch when it comes to the Kofi Kingston vs. Seth Rollins match on Monday, the prospective feud between Becky Lynch and Lacey Evans, AEW television talk, VICELAND's new 'Dark Side of the Ring' series, Sasha Banks being unhappy in WWE, and a whole lot more.

April 3rd, 2019

The biggest pro wrestling weekend of the year is here and we're ready to break it all down for you.

We go through the WWE WrestleMania 35 card, previewing each and every match and predicting all the winners. Plus, we break down the go-home editions of RAW and SmackDown this week, look at NXT TakeOver New York, and debate whether WWE has succeeded with long term booking heading into this year's WrestleMania and push back on the idea that WWE does not listen to their fan base.

Ep. 90: WrestleMania (March) Madness, Charlotte Flair, Kofi Kingston

March 27th, 2019

Less than two weeks from WrestleMania and we've been thrown for another loop - Charlotte Flair is the new WWE SmackDown Women's Champion.

Immediately after this week's SmackDown ended, we turned on the microphones and recorded this episode. We've got instant reactions to Charlottes title victory and Kofi Kingston (finally) being added to the WWE Championship match against Daniel Bryan.

We continue to break down the WrestleMania card, discuss the rumor that WWE is trying to prevent independent companies from booking shows in Tampa during Mania weekend next year, WWE's obsession with name changes, and a whole lot more.

Ep. 89: The Wild Booking of WrestleMania 35

March 19th, 2019

There's a lot to discuss this week. Kofi Kingston came up short in SmackDown's Gauntlet Match, but he's still likely to challenge Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35. Kurt Angle is wrestling his farewell match at WrestleMania against an underwhelming opponent. There's a ton of multi-person matches in the works for the show. Is WWE about to become a babyface promotion once again? And why is this card far from finalized less than three weeks before the show?

All of this and a whole lot more on this week's episode of Top Rope Nation.
