AEW Grand Slam Mexico proved that the company has moved to separate itself from WWE in a new way. While WWE's merger with TKO and UFC has made the company much more outwardly conservative and Trump-friendly, AEW has started to portray themselves as more immigrant friendly and multi-cultural.
AEW's treatment of CMLL is also much different than WWE's takeover of AAA.
